Meet the Doctor
Dr. Mary Lou French, O.D., M.Ed., F.A.A.O.
Dr. Mary Lou French graduated from the Illinois College of Optometry in 1977. While there she was a member of Beta Sigma Kappa, Gold Key Honor Society, Gamma Omega Phi Fraternity, and Tomb and Key Honor Fraternity. After graduation she entered private practice, deciding to focus on pediatric eyecare and vision therapy almost from the beginning. She also was a clinical instructor at ICO for a few years after graduation.
In 1981, she became a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, currently is an active member of the Illinois State Chapter, and has been President, Secretary/Treasurer, and a member of the Board of Directors. Involvement in the national organization of the Academy included the Membership Committee and the Chapters Committee.
In 1991 she entered the Master's Program at the Erikson Institute for Early Childhood Development, and completed her degree in 1994. Her current location in Orland Park, Illinois, where she has been practicing since 1979 emphasizes pediatric optometry and vision therapy.
Over the years she has lectured extensively to parent and teacher groups about the importance of children's vision and its relationship to schoolwork.
Some people might be surprised to learn there really is no age limit for when kids can wear contact lenses. See optometrist Mary Lou French's interview from WLS-TV, Chicago.
Dear Parents,
I began my career in optometry more than 30 years ago with a strong commitment to helping people, especially children, reach their optimum level of healthy vision. When I relocated my office in 1996, my commitment became stronger, and my dedication continues to grow.
Eyesight is crucial to the proper development of children. That's one reason why it is so important to make professional eye health care a regular part of your child's overall health maintenance.
At Children's and Family Eyecare, my expert staff and I are completely devoted to the health of your child's eyes. I have always promised to put quality, service, and the eye health of my patients above all else. With state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment and computerized technology, we provide the thorough, personal attention you and your child deserve. We understand that nothing is more important to you than your child's healthy vision.
Thank you for the opportunity to prove my commitment to you, and to your family's eye care. Together we can ensure your child has the proper vision to see great things in their future!
Sincerely,
